LGBT+ people are being abandoned

As a members' organisation, we are a body of diverse political positions and views.

However, inaction from the UK Government to ban so-called “conversion therapy”, their inconsistent and dangerous approach to trans healthcare/safety, and that it seems the Home Secretary wishes to make it HARDER for LGBT+ people to seek refuge, demonstrates a disregard for LGBT+ people.

Many people seeking asylum because of persecution they have experienced due to their sexuality or gender identity, are fleeing countries in which religious belief fans the flames of hatred.

Safeguarding LGBT+ people ought not to be political, it ought not to even be a point of discussion.

Not only must our Government demonstrate that they have not abandoned LGBT+ people here or globally, but so must our religious leaders.

Stand up and be counted.
