Warmly Welcoming the Decision Made by the Bench of Bishops in the Church in Wales

OneBodyOneFaith believes that the love of God is clearly present and at work in queer lives, relationships and ministry.

We therefore warmly welcome the decision of the Bench of Bishops of the Church in Wales to bring proposals to the Governing Body to make permanent provision for the blessing of same-sex relationships and to allow for the consideration of equal marriage in the Church in Wales.

We commend the Bishops' commitment to listening and their recognition of the significance of these questions for LGBT+ people in the Church in Wales and beyond.

Our recent research report on the Unmet Needs of LGBT+ leaders highlights the significant impact that denominational policies on equal marriage have: progress here can make a real difference to flourishing of LGBT+ Christian leaders.

We will keep the Governing Body in our prayers as it prepares to consider and decide upon these important matters and commit ourselves again to the vision of a church where queer people do not simply survive but thrive.
