A Prayer for the Holy Land
We invite you to pray these words alongside us, written by our Co-Chair of Trustees, Fr Jarel Robinson-Brown. We also note, and encourage those who are able, to join with His Holiness, Pope Francis, and Christians around the world in a day of prayer and fasting for the Holy Land on the 27th October.
A Prayer for the Holy Land
O God of justice and truth,
We grieve and mourn for the untold violence we see in the Holy Land today.
We hold before you the suffering
that continues to unfold in the lands
in which your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ,
lived and laboured.
Forgive us all for our complicity in injustice,
reveal to us the myriad ways in which we fail to see the truth.
Guide us and give us courage to work for peace and repair.
God of Abraham, may your Sacred Spirit hover anew over all the peoples of Israel and Palestine,
may your loving kindness enfold
the innocent who today suffer and who die,
hold tenderly the little children who are caught up in a violence they should never endure.
And, as we pray, so too may we - where we are - commit ourselves to truth, justice, and reconciliation - as we seek to see your Kingdom reign in all the Earth.
This we ask, O God, in your name of Love and Mercy.
Amen.
The wolf will live with the lamb,
the leopard will lie down with the goat,
the calf and the lion and the yearling together;
and a little child will lead them.
The cow will feed with the bear,
their young will lie down together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox.
The infant will play near the cobra’s den,
and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest.
They will neither harm nor destroy
on all my holy mountain,
for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord
as the waters cover the sea.
