LGCM is 40 – help us celebrate and give thanks
Lord, for the Years….a service of thanksgiving for forty years of the Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement
2016 marks the 40th anniversary of the founding of LGCM, and we're holding a special service to celebrate and give thanks on Saturday 21 May at 3pm at St Botolph's Church, Aldgate, London.
We're delighted that the Very Revd Prof. Martyn Percy, Dean of Christ Church Oxford, will be joining us as our preacher. It will be an opportunity to join with others who've been part of our story, to give thanks and to commit ourselves to all that lies ahead. It would be helpful to know if you're planning to join us; you can let us know you through our special Eventbrite page here – you'll also find all the details you need to help you plan your day – like travel and location.
St Botolph's has a very special place in LGCM's history. Our inaugural general meeting was held in Sir John Cass School, nearby, and for many years, the Movement occupied a room in the bell tower, before our move to Oxford House a short distance away in Bethnal Green.
After the service there will – of course – be tea and cakes. You will be very welcome.
Earlier in the day, our Annual General Meeting will take place. Members will receive official papers in early April. If you're not yet a member of LGCM, you can join here – our members give us our voice, and make all the difference. If you've always meant to join, but never quite got round to it, maybe now, in our birthday year, is the time to do it!
