Campaign day, Sheffield
Following the success of OneBodyOneFaith's training day for supporters in the Midlands in early April, we were already looking forward to gathering members from the north of England for this day of networking and learning in Sheffield. We're now sharpening the focus of our time together, to equip people to become engaged with this campaign in their own context.
We are delighted that we'll be joined by Reverend Kay Garlick, a priest in Hereford diocese, former member of General Synod and Archbishop's Council and Chair of the General Synod Business Committee, and Chair of Hereford Diocese Inclusive Church Forum. Kay will share her experience of the business mechanisms of the Church of England and also her more recent experience guiding the Hereford motion through deanery and diocesan synods. Christina Baron, Vice-Chair of the General Synod Human Sexuality Group will also be joining us to help us make sense of some of the processes and procedures involved.
In the afternoon, participants will have an opportunity to find out more about campaiging, community-building and network development, led by Keith Hebden of the Urban Theology Union. Keith will be using the Citizens UK model of community organising to empower people, and help them idenitfy the networks and individuals in their context with whom they should be engaging to make change happen.
The event is free to attend if you're a member of OneBodyOneFaith. If you're not yet a member and can subscribe to our Convictions, you can join here, or on the day.
We are keen to encourage people who have not previously been involved with our work, and young people, to attend. If you need support with travel costs, please contact us, because there is some help available. Please also let us know if you have any access needs. Tea and coffee will be provided. There will be a lunch break so please bring a packed lunch or there are plenty of eateries in Sheffield.
